Here are some reviews of the Hunger Games movie from the Journalism class (and best friends):

Lilli: AH-FREAKINGMAZING! Disappointed there were no shirtless Peeta (link to another post about Peeta) scenes.

Cartter: Should have used a different actor for Peeta, I pictured more thin. Just look up Peeta.

Aliyah: Liked it, it was awesome.

Wilson: Good movie, for a movie from a book.

Ms. Laura C: Liked it so much, I saw it three times.

Ethan (me): The Hunger Games is, by far, the best movie I have ever seen. While some of the special effects may be unrealistic,  the story line is very good, and it follows the book’s story line almost exactly. If I had to pick one movie from 2000-2012, to be guaranteed a Oscar, I would definitely pick the Hunger Games. If you had to pick only one movie to see each year, I would recommend the Hunger Games.

Overall Rating: 4.9/5 Stars

Percentages are based on the reviewers like/dislike where 100% is tops.

Footloose- 71%

While it is closely to the 1984 original, Craig Brewer infuses his Footloose remake with toe-tapping energy and manages to keep the story fresh for a new generation.

In Time- 36%

In Time’s intriguing premise and appealing cast is easily overpowered by the stilted filmmaking, which takes a blunt, heavy-handed approach to storytelling.

 50/50- 93%

A good-hearted film about a difficult topic, 50/50 maneuvers between jokes and drama with surprising finesse.

 Winnie The Pooh- 91%

Short, nostalgic, and gently whimsical, Winnie the Pooh offers young audiences — and their parents — a sweetly traditional family treat.

Abduction- 50%

A thriller that is really predictable, this movie was so predictable even a heroic actor couldn’t save.

I have recently acquired one of the new Chromebooks, and decided to write a review. So, here it is:

The Chromebook is exactly what it says. It focuses on using the internet. For the people upset about this, that is what it advertised; the web:

Chromebooks: Nothing but the WebThat aside, it boots up very fast (~6 seconds!), and is ready to login. The login is very simple, it just uses whatever @gmail email you gave it when it was first turned on. Some of them come with VZ 3G Wireless, (but, is $500 for that model) and you get 100 MB per month for two years.

Ever had to clear a computer because programs are taking up too much memory? The Chromebook gets around that! All programs are stored online, and can be downloaded at any time from the Chrome Web Store. The only program that CAN be offline I have found is Angry Birds (be happy for that, fans out there!).

Shutdown is as easy as the rest! Click the wrench (Yes, from Google Chrome, Chrome is the TECHNICAL operating system…), then Log Off, and then 1 second later, click shutdown, and it shuts down in 3 seconds.

The Intel Processor does it’s job, the computer is very fast. The internet is just as good: it connects to ANY available remembered network on login, and it is super fast on a just decent network. For a laptop (even a web one), this laptop is tops. Anyone wanting a cheap, fast laptop, should consider this one a major possibility!

Modern Warfare 2 Review

Modern Warfare 2 a first-person shooter game. Grant Collier is the president of Infinity Ward whose first franchise was Call of Duty, a series of first-person shooters based on various wars during the 20th century. Infinity Ward was acquired by Activision in 2003.

The Modern Warfare 2 game has changed a lot compared to the previous Call of Duty game, (World at War). World at War was based on World War II which was about 70 years ago. Modern Warfare 2 was based in the future which is different from World at War. Modern Warfare 2’s  weapons have also changed compared to World at War’s weapons. In Modern Warfare 2, you can have a shotgun as a secondary weapon. This means you can have a machine gun, a sniper or a sub machine gun as your primary weapon and you can have a pistol, a machine pistol, a launcher or a shotgun as your secondary weapon. In World at War you can’t have a shotgun as your secondary. If you choose to pick a shotgun in World at War, it will count as your primary.

I like the different variety of weapons in Modern Warefare 2 but I don’t like how short the single player mode is.

The lost hero: a book review by Erin

This book starts with a 15- year- old kid named Jason waking up on a bus. He has no clue who he is. Jason and his two friends are taken to camp half-blood where Percy Jackson is missing. The 3 of them are sent on a quest to find Hera, who has been kidnapped by the king of the giants, who are planning to destroy the gods.  Rick Riordan is doing something different with this book. He is using third person and switching between characters. If you read the Percy Jackson series you will notice he uses first person and only one character tells the story. In the Kane chronicles, he still uses 1st person but switches between Carter and Sadie Kane.  I love all these styles. If you haven’t read anything by Rick Riordan you should. This book gets two thumbs up: D

Call of Duty: Black Ops was one of the most anticipated titles of the year, but does it live up to all the hype?
