Here are some reviews of the Hunger Games movie from the Journalism class (and best friends):

Lilli: AH-FREAKINGMAZING! Disappointed there were no shirtless Peeta (link to another post about Peeta) scenes.

Cartter: Should have used a different actor for Peeta, I pictured more thin. Just look up Peeta.

Aliyah: Liked it, it was awesome.

Wilson: Good movie, for a movie from a book.

Ms. Laura C: Liked it so much, I saw it three times.

Ethan (me): The Hunger Games is, by far, the best movie I have ever seen. While some of the special effects may be unrealistic,  the story line is very good, and it follows the book’s story line almost exactly. If I had to pick one movie from 2000-2012, to be guaranteed a Oscar, I would definitely pick the Hunger Games. If you had to pick only one movie to see each year, I would recommend the Hunger Games.

Overall Rating: 4.9/5 Stars

Hunger Games Movie Reveiw

I thought the Hunger Games movie was very good. I didn’t like how shaky the camera was at the action scenes and how fast the camera angle switched. I like how the movie followed the book. There were only a couple changes from the book to the movie. I liked how long the movie was because that way it could capture nearly everything. One of my favorite scenes was when Katniss shot an arrow at the bag of apples and blew up everything.  Another scene I liked was at the beginning of the Hunger Games and everyone got their packs and ran into the woods.

The beginning of the Hunger Games was pretty fast paced but it slowed down as the games went on. I thought too many people were killed at the beginning of the Games. About half of the people were killed then. In the book only a few people were killed at the beginning. I didn’t think the Capitol would be that futuristic. I thought it was cool how the game makers could spawn things, for example the muttations.

I’m looking forward to Catching Fire. Only I hope they use a tripod when filming the action scenes and only use a couple of camera angles.

The Hunger Games was as great movie that explored love, life, and sadness. This tale of Katniss, a very matured teenager, who puts her life on the line to save her sister Prim. The Hunger Games kept you watching the screen with high points as well as low ones. Even though the camera shaking was annoying at times, it did pull through to hide some of the gruesome displays of teenagers killing each other.

My favorite moment was the interview between Katniss Everdeen and Ceaser Flickerman, it showed the true Katniss that is in the spotlight and had all the important elements from the book. Jennifer Lawrence played a good Katniss and captured all of her facial expressions as well as personality traits, she also knew how to use a bow. Josh Hutcherson also captured his characters adaptation, and used his confidence to good use.

Over all The Hunger Games was a good adaptation of the bestselling book.

I thought that the Hunger Games was an amazing movie, probably one of my favorite movies of all time, but there was a few things I would change. I would have recast Cinna and President Snow. I also didn’t like the shakiness of the camera during gory scenes, even though it kept the movie from being rated R.

My favorite scene was when the tributes were in the parade and everyone was staring at Katniss and Peeta. I also liked the scene where they were in the train and Katniss tries to stab Haymitch and Effie says “THAT IS MAHOGANY!” in an angered tone, and that made me laugh.

I think Katniss is an awesome main character because she is really sweet to certain people like her sister, but she also has a kind of, “I don’t like you” attitude to some people like her mom and Peeta. She also has a tendency to ignore people who she dislikes. But she is also just a cool character because of her spunkyness and her calmness in the face of danger. I thought that Jennifer Lawrence did a great job playing Katniss, and I think she was the perfect role.

Overall, I thought the movie was amazing, and it was just how I would have made it. Katniss and Peeta were casted well, and they made the movie very well. I am looking forward to Catching Fire and Mockingjay.
